SIDNEY — Micah Hart of Saanichton is in Buffalo, New York this week for the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship.

Hart, who currently attends the Okanagan Hockey Academy, was named captain prior to the start of the tournament on Jan. 5.

Team Canada lost their opener to the U.S. in a shootout on Monday but regrouped for a 3-2 victory over Russia on Tuesday. Team Canada was set to play the Czech Republic Thursday (after the PNR press deadline) to complete their preliminary round matchups. The quarterfinals begin today (Fri., Jan. 9) with the two medal rounds set for Mon., Jan. 12.
