Local sport car enthusiast Bill Okell won his second Nasport Light championship in California. Okell ran his modified MGB to first overall in the grand touring race at Infineon Raceway (San Francisco) on Sunday.
Since last season Okell and team have committed to two racing series, adding the the Nasport Light series to the B.C. Sports Car Club’s domestic GT series at Mission Raceway Park.
Thanksgiving weekend is the final two of the 10-race championship. Okell hopes to win his class but is three points back of the leader, Rich Fukuyi.
Saanichton’s Ian Mackie is fourth in the standings and could move up to third.
