Elected leaders a necessity

While people in Libya shed their blood to protest against an unelected leader supported by cronies, we sleep-walk uncaring while Christy Clark is sworn in as unelected premier of BC with enormous power over our daily lives.

She fires civil servants, appoints ministers, and sets out new financial, social and economic policies untroubled by the fact that she has no more legitimacy for her power over four million people than some of the tin pot dictators in the news recently.

Worse yet — by their silence, the opposition, the press and seemingly the people are complicit. Despite all the talk of priorities, not once has actually being elected and accountable to the citizens been mentioned as a priority.

Democracy in BC — you must be joking!
