In loving memory ~
Loving Mother, and retired banker Sandra (Sandy) Leslie Luckhurst passed on to a better place on March 6, 2022, at the age of 80. In control of her destiny to the end, she will forever be remembered by those that are left behind as a warm friend and a loving mother.
As a young woman she worked at the family motel before moving to Campbell River and meeting her husband Alan and living for a period on the Tyee Spit surrounded by the Ocean which she loved so much.
After moving to the Saanich Peninsula and having her three children Brad Leah and Owen, Alan suddenly passed away and she was widowed without warning. Such a strong woman, she raised her children on her own terms with love, to be strong and caring.
She loved, as they did, the many times spent with Alan's mom Grandma Luckhurst at the beach house in Nanoose Bay where she could let her kids run wild with family and finally have time to rest and relax.
Always open hearted and lovingly remembered by her kids and grandkids as having both hands on your cheeks telling you how much she loved you, how proud she was, and that "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all".
Her door was always open, happy to share her time, home, and resources with those in need. Often there was an extra place at the dinner table for someone that needed it or shouldn't be alone at a special time.
She was proud that she had raised her children fairly, with love and had through all the hard work been very successful regardless of the pressures that a single mother of three faces.
She loved and supported her own parents through the later part of her and their lives, doing the right thing by everyone, as was her nature.
We are sure she is somewhere now happily gardening, thinking about golf, and listening to the Blue Jays game.
We will always remember you. See you soon
A celebration of Sandys life will be held at 1122 Clarke Rd. in Brentwood Bay, starting at 1:00 p.m on Sunday May 1st. Any and all that knew Sandy and want to come are welcome.
Weather permitting, we will try and have it in the garden she loved so much. Please dress brightly and comfortably for the occasion.
