In Loving Memory ~
Jean Camille Jeal passed from this world on July 30, 2022. With generosity, always a positive attitude and profound faith, Jean lived simply and humbly.
Born in 1922 in Camrose, Alberta, she moved to Calgary in 1939. Jean enrolled in nursing in 1942 to 1945 at the Calgary General Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse in the operating room. She furthered her training at Vancouver General then returned to Calgary specializing in neurosurgery.
She met Arthur Jeal at Anglican Young Peoples Association and enjoyed skating, hiking and skiing.
Art and Jean were married October 2, 1948. Jean moved into the home she and Art built together on Lansdowne Avenue in Elbow Park in 1949 where she raised their family.
They retired to Sidney, B.C. and built a beautiful cottage on North Pender Island. They loved to explore around the Gulf Islands in their sailboat 'Nova Vita' meaning New Life and sail from Pender Island to their ocean side home in Sidney.
Jean was a gracious woman and an inspiration to many. She was a loving wife and best friend to Art, a compassionate, wise, patient and proud mother, a nurturing grandmother and loving great grandmother.
She will be missed more than words can express by her son Ted Jeal (Cathy) and their children Katie and Adam, Doreen Roberge, her children Jordan and Sarah; Maureen Bell, her children, Summer and Katherine along with ten great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her brother Tom, and was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Art in 2008, her brother Jim, sister Ruth and son-in-law James.
Jean left an impact on the lives of many people over her 99 years. She lived life with joy and gratitude. Her faith in God and trust that Jesus would see her through each day gave her strength. Jean cherished every minute of every day, always looking for the best in everyone and in life. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents of others and to make them feel loved and lifted by her presence.
Honoring Jean's wishes there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Andrews Outreach Ministry, 9691 Fourth Street, Sidney, B.C. or Woods Homes Foundation in Calgary, Alberta.
