In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved Heidi. As a child, Heidi suffered in wartime Germany before moving to Switzerland as an apprentice seamstress and librarian. She was an intrepid traveller, including a year in her 40s of solo backpacking around the world.
A career change brought her to Nova Scotia where she came into our lives by marrying Peter Gowans. After selling their waterfront dining room they switched coasts and moved to Sidney, BC.
Heidi returned to her travels after Peter's death, always returning to her friends and family in BC, where she was a dedicated volunteer to her community.
She passed away on Tuesday, April 18 surrounded by family. She is survived by her 2 children Megan and Michael, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
