SIDNEY — The organizers of the Sidney Celebrates Canada 150 program are looking for key volunteers for several signature events taking place during the year to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary and Sidney’s 50th Anniversary.

A volunteer information session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Arbutus Room at the Sidney Town Hall. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend to hear details on the various events and have the opportunity to register as a volunteer for the event of their choice.

Kenny Podmore, co-ordinator for Sidney’s Canada 150, is appealing to people in the area to volunteer and be a part of this milestone in our country’s history.

“This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved with an extraordinary celebration of our country and our community,” says Podmore.

Aside from the Annual Sidney Days Celebrations which will be bigger, brighter and bolder this year, there are several additional events that require volunteers. These include:

• Vancouver Island Comic Con, June 11 at the Mary Winspear Centre. Volunteers needed range from photographers, social media team members and competition coordinators.

• Paint the Town Red & White Street Party on June 24 needs volunteers to operate barricades.

• Children’s Carnival, June 25 in Beacon Park. Volunteers needed include a coordinator and general helpers.

• Dinner en Rouge, June 25 in Beacon Park. Volunteer hosts are needed.
