Sidney to welcome back the Anacortes Ferry this Sunday

Ferry supporters welcome back the Washington State Ferries service every spring.

SIDNEY — At 11 a.m. April 2, the MV Chelan will be seen rounding Sidney Spit as the Washington State Ferry returns to its regular Anacortes/Friday Harbor/Sidney run.

Passengers from Anacortes and Friday Harbor will come ashore and be welcomed by Sidney Town Crier Kenny Podmore; Sidney Mayor Steve Price and other dignitaries. Anacortes Mayor Laurie Gere, as well as State, local council members and other from the State will also arrive.

A short welcoming ceremony will take place and then the ferry will load up and head back to Anacortes, all within 40 minutes.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and take part in welcoming the ferry back to Sidney thereby reestablishing an important connection with our American friends.

The event is hosted by the Sidney International Ferry Terminal with the assistance of Sidney Sister Cities Association and Alexander’s Coffee.
