Sandown environmental assessment approved, but won't happen – yet

Bill Randall tells North Saanich council he won't output money until he has better guarantees that land deal will advance

A small step forward on the Sandown proposal stepped back again this week.

On Jan. 9, North Saanich council voted unanimously to approve spending $9,000 for an environmental assessment of the property. It was half of the  $18,000 cost of the assessment, with land owner Bill Randall responsible for the other half.

This week, Randall told council he won’t pay his $9,000 share until North Saanich gives a clear message that they’ll move ahead with the land deal.
