Residents request reminders for rural road regulations

Residents sign petition for speed limit signs on Mount St. Michael Road

Nearly two dozen residents of Mount St. Michael Road signed a petition asking Central Saanich council to post a speed limit sign and ask Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse to post ‘open’ or ‘closed’ signs at the intersection of Mount St. Michael Road and Central Saanich Road to help prevent the number of vehicles making U-turns along the narrow country road.

Since the cidery opened, the volume of traffic along the road has increased and the road surface has deteriorated, say residents.

Council referred the letter and petition to staff for review and requested they take the appropriate action. A copy of the petition was sent to the Central Saanich Police for potential enforcement.
