The assessed value of properties on the Saanich Peninsula took a downward path since last year.
B.C. Assessment statistics show that, between the three communities on the Peninsula, assessed values dropped $12,000 between 2011 and 2012.
“Most homes in Greater Victoria are remaining stable in value compared to last year’s assessment roll,” said area assessor Reuben Danakody. “Most home owners in Greater Victoria will see changes in the minus-two per cent to plus-five per cent range.”
Central Saanich saw a minor increase of $2,000 in its average assessment, while North Saanich and Sidney had decreases.
Across Greater Victoria, commerical, industrial and multi-family property assessments increased five to 15 per cent over the past year.
“Property owners who feel that their property assessment does not reflect market value as of July 1, 2011 or see incorrect information on their notice should contact our office as indicated on their notice as soon as possible in January,” Danakody said.
