Central Saanich Police are looking for the owner of a vehicle after an interesting stop on July 18.
An officer in a marked police vehicle was scanning traffic in the 2000 block of Keating X Road around 10:30 p.m. when an older model Honda passed westbound on Keating. A noisy muffler, missing front license plate and burned out lights caught the officer’s attention. When the officer pulled in behind the vehicle to stop the driver, the Honda continued westbound on Keating and turned south on Oldfield Road with the officer following. The driver made a quick left into a parking area and the officer pulled in behind, police said. The driver ran off and the officer stayed with the vehicle.
More officers attended and the vehicle was towed until the owner could be located. While doing an inventory of the vehicle, a small quantity of what appeared to be marijuana was discovered. As of News Review deadline the vehicle had not been claimed by the owner.
