Central Saanich Councillor Adam Olsen is seeking re-election for a second term on Central Saanich council.
“It is a great honour to be selected by your neighbours to represent their interests at the council table and on many other boards, committees and commissions in the region,” said Olsen. “The past three years have been an incredible experience and I hope to be re-elected to continue to work on the opportunities for the community in the future.”
Olsen was elected to Central Saanich council in 2008, and is the chair of the water and waste management committee. He also represents Central Saanich on the Saanich Peninsula Water and Wastewater Commissions, Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Greater Victoria Public Library and Regional Housing Trust Fund. Olsen is also a liaison to the advisory planning commission, First Nations, School District 63, Peninsula Streams Society and KENNES Steering Committee and alternate on the Peninsula Recreation Commission.
“There have been challenges over the past three years, and they will continue into the next term,” said Olsen. “I seek common ground and will continue to build strong relationships across political and social barriers. I face the challenges of our community knowing that they often present us opportunities.
“I remain committed to doing politics differently, it is not about making a ‘right’ or a ‘left’ decision, it is about making a correct one,” said Olsen. “I strive to be as open, consultative and as transparent as I can to effectively balance individual interests with the community interest.
“As a community leader and father of a young family, I understand this beautiful area belongs to future generations. We live in a highly desirable place and have a great quality of life and I will work diligently to keep it that way,” said Olsen.
