Deceased male found on Sidney beach Sunday

SIDNEY — Police have identified the man who was found on a Sidney beach Sunday morning.

A passer-by called 911 after discovered an elderly man on the waterfront at the foot of Amherst Avenue early Sunday morning. Ambulance crews responded and determined the man, who was found fully dressed, was dead.

Corporal Erin Fraser of the Sidney North Saanich RCMP said the man was identified and the investigation has been taken over by the BC Coroner’s Service.

Fraser said the man did not have any injuries and the case is no longer a police matter.
