The Town of Sidney’s 2023 paving, concrete curb and sidewalk program contract has been awarded to Capital City Paving Ltd.

Capital City Paving’s $810,919.30 bid was the lowest to finish the work, and they have provided all bonding and insurance.

The contract includes the asphalt surfacing and concrete, curb and sidewalk improvements on Galaran Road from Jahn Place to Mills Road West and the asphalt path renewal in Melville Park.

Tenders closed on May 31, and the low bid fell within the cost estimates for the work.

A report to council from Sidney’s manager of engineering Bruce DeMaere says Capital City Paving’s past performance in the town has been satisfactory.

The motion to approve the contract was carried unanimously by council at their regular meeting June 12.

The only other bid was $821,636 and came from Island Asphalt Company.
