The Malahat is the best bet for those looking to travel between Greater Victoria and the rest of Vancouver Island with all Wednesday sailings cancelled between Brentwood Bay and Mill Bay.

All 18 sailings on the route branded as “Vancouver Island’s most beautiful shortcut” are cut as the agency was unable to find the required crew to run MV Klitsa, according to a statement from BC Ferries issued the morning of June 7.

“We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations. The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew,” it reads.

BC Ferries said it will notify customers should crew become available and specifically noted alternate travel remains available via the Malahat.
