There will be many familiar faces on Central Saanich council, as incumbent councillors Niall Paltiel, Zeb King, Christopher Graham, Bob Thompson, and Carl Jensen all earned re-election. They will be joined by newcomer Gord Newton. The only incumbent who sought election elsewhere was Alicia Holman, who ran for school board trustee and won.
Newcomers Kathryn Parfitt, Tayler Ruygrok and Joshua Steeper were edged out.

Mayor Ryan Windsor will remain at the helm in Central Saanich where he was elected in 2014.
As in 2014, Paltiel topped the polls with 3,697 votes.
”This time before you receive the election results is always nerve wracking. It’s a great time to reflect on the election and the feed back we have received from the community,” Paltiel said before results came in Saturday night. “I have sincerely appreciated the discussions we have had with the neighbour’s and other candidates.
Central Saanich voter Kevin McLaughlin said amalgamation brought him to the polls, because he felt money could be saved by joining together. He voted for candidates he had dealings with personally. “I’m too old to run myself.”
Alicia Holman and Tim Dunford will be trustees for School District 63, beating out Megan Desroches.
