A six-storey luxury condominium building is in the works for Saanichton.

The Cento Building, planned for 1932 Mount Newton Cross Rd. will feature 28 luxury condos including one-and two-bedroom units and three penthouses on the third floor.

The ground floor will have 4,000 square feet of commercial space.

“It’s a very high-end building,” said Chuck Meagher, project sales manager with Century 21. “We have a long line up of businesses. It’s a matter of deciding what’s going to work best with the residents of the building. It’s very likely that medical-oriented businesses will go into the building.

The second, third and fourth floors will have seven units each, with four units on the fifth floor. There will be two levels of underground parking and multiple electric vehicle charging stations.

The developer is David Vidalin and the architect is former Victoria mayor Alan Lowe.

Meagher says they need an archaeological permit from the province before the building on the property – formerly home to the former home of the Central Saanich Medical Clinic – is demolished.

“That’s the only thing that’s held the project up,” Meagher said. “The archaeological clearance should be forthcoming within the next week or two. The report has been put in, and there are no issues with the property.”

Construction is expected to begin in the middle or end of March with people potentially moving in by August or September of 2025.
