More Peninsula councillors have stated their intentions in this year’s municipal election, set for October 20, 2018.

Carl Jensen and Chris Graham, both of Central Saanich, have said they will run again.

In an email, Jensen said he wanted to improve Central Saanich through “new affordable and attainable housing in all of its shapes and sizes, the revitalization of Saanichton Village and through the ongoing support of mobility routes through the District for all modes of transportation.”

Graham said his biggest priority is to implement a Keating revitalization plan, which he thinks still needs work. He also highlighted his experience as the longest-serving councillor, so he had “that history that some of the other councillors might not have.”

“I feel like it’s really important to balance the urban-rural needs and make sure the rural parts of Central Saanich are being protected while we make sure the urban parts are growing and vibrant,” added Graham.

Celia Stock, a two-term North Saanich councillor, said she has not yet decided, though she said she has been “encouraged to run for my third term as a Councillor, and many people are asking me to put my name forward for Mayor.”

Stock added there was still work ahead for the current term, like choosing priorities for the 2018 Strategic Plan for the District of North Saanich.

“As they say, ‘more later,’” she wrote.
