If you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than this week’s edition of the Peninsula News Review.

In a special section of this week’s paper, we honour 12 local heroes who continue to make the Saanich Peninsula the place we all know and love.

From the coach who goes above and beyond, the teacher who tirelessly inspires young minds, the community volunteer who puts in hundreds of hours, the emergency responder who puts their life on the line, and the seniors’ champion who makes sure no one is forgotten – we share their stories while shining a spotlight on them.

You will also be able to find their stories online in the coming days so don’t fret if you weren’t able to grab a copy. Our papers are also available online, under e-editions, at peninsulanewsreview.com.

Our inaugural Peninsula News Review Local Hero Awards couldn’t have been done without you, our readers, taking the time to nominate someone who has made a difference in your life and your community.

The Local Hero Awards were designed to highlight powerful stories from the Saanich Peninsula and celebrate a wide range of organizations and individuals in the form of sponsors, partners, nominees and nominators.

Please watch for next year’s awards and have your nominations ready, there is no shortage of local heroes to honour.

With the changing digital landscape we now face in light of the Online News Act, you may not see our articles, likes these local hero stories, on some of your social media or Google news feeds.

However, we are committed to continuing the local journalism our readers rely on. You can find more of our stories from the Peninsula, Greater Victoria, and the province, online at peninsulanewsreview.com.
