The Victoria Royals will challenge the Tri City Americans's hold on fifth place this weekend as the Amerks are here for two games.

Puck drop is 7 p.m. at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4-5.

The Royals (19-15-0-2) are coming off a 4-2 road loss to the red-hot Kelowna Rockets (27-10-1-1) on Wednesday night. Jamie Crooks scored his 18th and Ben Walker scored his 13th of the season in the loss.

Last weekend the Royals picked up four huge points with a sweep of the Prince George Cougars (12-20-1-4), a 5-1 blowout on Friday and a 4-3 come from behind shootout win on Saturday.

The Americans (21-14-1-2) won their last game 6-3 over state-rival Spokane Chiefs on New Year's Eve.
