The Peninsula Panthers management are very excited and optimistic for the upcoming 2018/19 VIJHL season and on Friday night they will be able to showcase a team many believe will have a chance to contend. The Club will welcome in the visiting Westshore Wolves for what looks to be an evening of entertainment.

“The game is set for the usual 7:30 pm start, however we will have a special season-opening video and the introduction of the roster,” said GM Pete Zubersky. “We are still tinkering just a bit making the final couple selections but we will be ready to go on Friday, no doubt about it. The kids are really looking forward to the challenge and are ready to go.”

The Panthers used a couple of exhibition games against the Victoria Cougars as a final tune-up for Friday and came out on top in both by scores of 7-3 in Esquimalt last Thursday and 3-1 at home a night later. “We feel good about ourselves and it was nice to get a couple wins over an archrival last week,” quipped Zubersky. “But that being said, the games now count and the chips are now out on the table.”

The Panthers have worked most of the kinks out of the huge video screen on the North end of the arena, a recent addition this season. The Organization believe this will add greatly to the entertainment value on Friday nights and it will play a big part in the pre-game ceremony and throughout the games during the home opener and beyond. A large crowd is expected and the Club is asking that fans are in their seats by 7:25 pm, five minutes before the pre-game ceremony will commence.
