Patos starts season

The Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club’s 30th anniversary of the Patos Island Classic found a fleet of 33 assembled at the Sidney starting line. First across the line was Kairos, an Aerodyne 38 (Ron Jewula, RVYC) with an elapsed time of 13 hours, 31.24 minute, for a corrected finish of fourth place. The corrected time winner was Emma, a Ross 930 (Eric Jespersen, SNSYC), with an elapsed time 13 hours, 57.28 minutes and corrected at 12 hours, 10.16 minutes. Nine, southern BC yacht clubs participated in the race — the first of this year’s Triple Crown of local races, that culminate with the Swiftsure in May.
