Tax revenues from Sandown will benefit North Saanich residents

Sandown deal has financial benefits for North Saanich taxpayers

I have come to the conclusion that North Saanich and the Saanich Peninsula in general can not afford to let this opportunity slip away.

It seems to me that the main stumbling issue of cost to the taxpayer is being addressed and that in fact the North Saanich taxpayer will benefit from revenue generated from the 12 acre commercial development as well as taxes on the agricultural leases.

We as taxpayers should even expect a certain amount of cash outlay to get this project started as I am sure many of you on council who are business people are well aware.

At the Jan. 9 council meeting, there were many eloquent speakers and just ordinary concerned residents who spoke of food security or healthy food for their children, or moving here years ago to escape the paving of rural areas they once enjoyed in other parts of Canada.

I would like to think that if you were in attendance and listening to these concerns, you would accept the white flag and make a positive move to secure this land for the future of our children and grandchildren.
