Plant health centre critical to food chain

Readers want to see North Saanich's Centre for Plant Health thrive, not be shut down

On May 9 my husband and I were part of a tour of the Centre for Plant Health organized by Elder College. It was very informative and we were shocked to hear at the beginning of our tour that the federal government plans to close this facility. The research they are conducting at the centre is vital in regards to our food safety in Canada.

The testing of viruses related to tree fruit and grapevine is an essential to preventing viruses entering our country.

We wish to thank our MP Elizabeth May for “fighting tooth and nail to stop the closure”.

We would rather be part of their 100 year celebration.
