People deserve more power over telemarketers

Robocalls irritating for consumers and don't just come at election time

We need regulations that protect consumers from unwanted automated telemarketing calls, also known as robocalls.

Telemarketers should be required to get written consent, including by electronic form, from customers before using robocalls. In addition, an opt-out mechanism during each robocall could allow consumers to immediately tell them to stop calling.

At the end of the day, we may not be able to know which call is legitimate or not, but maybe we can stop them before they are ever made.
