The recent declarations by the Capital Regional District and by the City of Victoria, of there being a climate emergency is so ironic.

The world, while entering its 21st century without any significant average warming of our atmosphere, has been given a deadline of 12 years by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to lower carbon emissions by an extreme amount, or face irreversible damage to our planet.

Why has this issue been given emergency status by the IPCC and subsequently by various governments and groups? Is the claimed emergency likely related to the fact that there is, in fact, no sign of any emergency at all? And is that the reason for the emphatic IPCC plea?

The world is now realizing that there is no warming continuing, and governments and people may very well stand down, and continue their lives in a state of less climate change fear. This would negatively affect the change in world governments and governmental actions that the UN and the IPCC have desired, and could interrupt the flow of financial aid to the underdeveloped countries, which hold a large majority at the UN, to help them deal with climate change.

The transfer of wealth from the developed nations to the developing ones is really the main goal of climate change action, and this fact is becoming more obvious with the latest IPCC warnings.

It is unfortunate that the minds of many of our elected officials have been so completely indoctrinated by the teachings of some scientists, many with so much to gain personally from continuing climate change worries, and a UN body with a clear agenda. And the agenda has little or nothing to do with saving the earth’s climate.

Lately it seems that that is where we are headed. Sadly.
