Let taxpayers decide on amalgamation

So the mayors and councillors on the Saanich Peninsula are not in favour of amalgamation, what a shock

So the mayors and councillors on the Saanich Peninsula are not in favour of amalgamation, what a shock.

Why not just ask them if they like the idea of losing their jobs?

Mayor Cross says he’s not in favour as it’s not in the best interest of Sidney. Sidney is all businesses and residential, collecting all kinds of taxes and very little infrastructure to pay for.

In Central Saanich, we have lots of property in the ALR, which is great for local food production but not great for collecting tax revenue.

Exactly how will combining three municipalities into one cost more?

One Mayor and Council instead of three, one fire department, one police force, etc.

Don’t ask the fox who should be in charge of the hen house, ask the chickens!
