As Jeffrey Simpson of the Globe and Mail noted in his recent column “Climate change? Not in this campaign” since the Liberals were stung last time around on their proposed carbon tax, and we've had an intervening recession, none of the major political parties have seriously addressed this critical global issue.
With present policies it will not be possible to even achieve the government's 17 per cent reduction target by 2020.
He concludes that “Canadians just don't care.” I doubt it.
If you're tired of the same old, same old, perhaps it’s time to send a message to Ottawa. Elect a leader from our constituency who is respected on both the national and international stage for tackling this issue head on.
