Clark needs mandate

Re: Mandate unnecessary (PNR Sept. 14). Christy Clark should call an election because she has no mandate to be premier.

She won the leadership of the Liberal party after Campbell resigned, his policies in tatters. Clark retains the same cabinet. Her taxation policy has been thoroughly rejected by the electorate. We now deserve an election to choose our next premier.

The fact the law allows her to govern without a popular mandate merely proves Dickens’ to be right when he wrote “The law is a — ass, an idiot.”

If Clark had won the HST referendum, she likely would have called an election.
