Cancellation costly

I have just listened to an interview with Ms. Cindy Verschoor, manager of communication and public affairs for BC Hydro’s Smart Metering Program.

In the interview she states the decision on which smart meters that will be purchased has not been made. When it is, and the contract is signed, the public will be given the details. The implication is if the public has concerns about the meters then, they may be listened to and consulted.

Frankly I doubt the public consultation will be more than window dressing to endorse a decision that has already been made. In any event it will be late and costly to cancel any contract at that point.

If this is an example of how BC Hydro does business then it is little wonder BC Hydro is requesting massive rate increases.

The cost of correcting a bad decision can be horrendous and leads one to question whether the management at BC Hydro is competent.
