R.W. (Bob) McDonald

of Sidney B.C. passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in the Palliative Care Unit of San Pen Hospital on Jan 27 2011.

Bob was born in Nanaimo on March 12 1923, graduated from Vic High and joined the RCAF as a pilot trainer in support the war effort.

He was predeceased by his mother (Dorothy), father (Collin), brother (Jack) and the love of his life in 2005 Brenda(nee Fisher) .He is survived by his daughter Linda (Thornton), son Bob (Kathy), 5 grandchildren and 4.5 great grandchildren.

Bob worked almost 38 years for TCA/Air Canada at the Victoria Airport where he made many lifelong friends and retired in 1984. He was a valiant defender of family and friends, a great jokester, lover of puns, fishing , serenading you with a song, playing his harmonica and old musicals.

Our thanks to Dr. T Hartrick, the wonderful and caring staff at Island View Place and the Palliative Care Unit of the San Pen Hospital.

He will be truly missed!

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. would be appreciated.
