In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norman James Hackett, aged 88 years, on July 29, 2024, in Sidney, BC.

Norm was predeceased by his wife Margaret on April 1, 2021, and he missed the love of his life every day. Norm is survived by his three children, Lynne (Darren), Brenda (John) and Stuart (Gillian), seven grandchildren, Daniel, Claire, Emily, Ethan, Taylor, Mallory and Veronica, and three great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Rylan, and Colson.

Dad was very proud of all of his children, but his grandchildren, their kindness, their solid character and their accomplishments gave him the most pride.

Norm and Marg came to BC from Toronto in 1965 with their three children in tow.

Dad had a strong sense of community, and in his younger years was a volunteer firefighter and member of the Lions Club.

Dad always tried to do his best for his family and obtained a Bachelor of Education at the University of Victoria, while supporting his family through odd jobs at night.

At the time that dad graduated, jobs in education meant a move from Vancouver Island, and dad chose to keep the family here, embarking instead on a long career with Pacific Brewers Distributors where he made many close friends.

Mum and Dad treasured their long friendships with Marie and Rennie Heckert, and Marg and Norm Trace, and shared many special times with them.

Thank you to the outstanding care and support of Dr. Ruth Curtis, the VIHA Community Support team, and the MAID Program.

You will be missed, dad.

We loved you very much.
