December 3, 1941 - October 20, 2020
Lynne Wood, 78, of Sidney B.C., passed away at the Victoria Hospice on October 20, 2020. Lynne was born to parents Earl Hugh "Scotty" Murray and Thelma Agnes "Tibby" Murray in Edmonton, Alberta on December 3, 1941.
Lynne is survived by her four children: Craig Wood (Cathy) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; Chris Wood (Barb) of Peace River, Alberta; Donna Wood of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Deanna Wood (Stacey Jacksteit) of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.
She leaves behind eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lynne will be missed by her siblings: Karen Teghtmeyer of Edmonton; Ian Murray (Julie Davis) of Victoria, and Laura Murray of Brentwood Bay along with many cousins, a niece and four nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her former husband Carl Sheldon (Woody) Wood.
Lynne was raised in Edmonton and married Woody on September 6, 1963. The couple lived in various locations in Edmonton and Winnipeg, eventually moving to Peace River Alberta. Lynne and Woody established a telephone answering service "Tel-Tex Services" which they operated for many years. Lynne moved to Vancouver Island in 1991 and resided in "beautiful Sidney by the Sea."
Lynne worked as a housekeeper at Beechwood seniors' home in Sidney for a number of years before retiring. In July 2019 she returned to Beechwood but this time as a resident where she stayed until this September. Lynne loved to have coffee and catch up on gossip and could often be found in the coffee shops along Beacon Avenue.
Lynne loved a good bargain and could stretch a dollar. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to knit. Lynne particularly enjoyed making toques, mittens, scarfs and doll's clothing which she would donate to various charities.
The family would like to thank Dr. Keith and his staff; the doctors, nurses and staff at Beechwood, the Saanich Peninsula Hospital and the Victoria Hospice for the patience and care they provided for mom.
At mom's request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring 2021.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saanich Peninsula Hospital or the Victoria Hospice.
