JOSEPH STEWART

June 14, 1925 - May 6, 2010

It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing our beloved husband and father. Left to cherish the memories is his wife Phyllis of 58 years, daughter Cathy (Doug), sons Stuart and Ian, 10 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; brothers and sisters in Scotland and England; extended family and close friends. Pre-deceased by daughter, Barbara; son Robert; brother Robert; and dear friend Kenny Davies. Born in Dundee, Scotland, Dad came to Canada in 1938 where he resided at Fairbridge School in Duncan, BC. He served with the Canadian Merchant Navy, and later as a wireless radio operator and lighthouse keeper. Settling in Sidney, BC he worked at the Victoria Int. Airport as an electronics tech. for the Federal Government. Dad enjoyed many years in the Peninsula Players Theatre and was an avid member in the Knights of Pythias. His passion for adventure led him to get his private pilots license and deep sea diving ticket. A service to celebrate Dad’s life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive on Monday, May 17th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

We will miss his sparkling eyes, infectious laughter, his many stories, songs and his “warm” hugs. See you around the campfire Dad.
