September 13, 1923 - August 29, 2011


With great sadness we announce the passing of Ray, a native Victorian. He leaves to cherish his memory-Eve, his wife of 66 years, son Paul

(Marja), daughter Shelley (Gary), grandchildren Kevin (Candace), Leanne (Kevin), great grandchildren Elliot,

Erica and Cuyler, sisters Kathleen (John), Marian, Joan (Ron), brother

Kenneth (Barbara). Ray joined the Army WW2 and served 1942-1946 in England, France and NW Europe. He was wounded in Holland. Returning home, he had a series of jobs including driving freight and logging trucks plus building houses in spare time. Ray formed his own Construction company, building in Gordon Head area, then Central Saanich and Sidney. He loved fishing and boating and in 1981 bought a 30’ Tollycraft – “KISMET”, was a member of Tollycruisers, Victoria Cruising Club and Power Squadron (participated in student training aboard Kismet).


Special thanks to Dr. George Spencer and the caring staff at Rest Haven Lodge. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held Friday October 21, 2011 2pm at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Saanich, BC. Flowers gratefully declined.
