Hana Larson (nee Tanemura) passed away peacefully at Mt. Ida Mews with her husband at her side. Married for 59 years to her husband (Glen), Hana gave up her life after an eleven year struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

Hana was born in the Salmon Arm Hospital, went to elementary school in the Old South Canoe one-room school, then went on to complete high school (including Senior Matriculation) at the Consolidated High School in Salmon Arm. She obtained her teaching license from Victoria Normal and started her teaching career at the tender age of 19 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Archie & Take Tanemura, by her two children Spencer and Jill, two brothers, Ken (Kiyoe -deceased) and Tom (Ann - remarried) also four sisters; Gertie (Yosh -deceased), Dorothy (Sam - deceased), Molly (Art - deceased), and Ada (Ed). Also mourning her loss are 26 nieces and nephews on the Tanemura side of the family and 42 nieces and nephews on the Larson side. Many friends and former pupils will have fond memories of a beautiful, gracious and generous lady. I thank them for their condolences and kind offers of help. My most sincere and profound thanks to the staff at Mt. Ida Mews for their tender, loving care of Hana. A very special "thanks" to some very special "angels" (you know who you are) who loved and cared for Hana.
