George McLeod Killen

With his loving family surrounding him, George passed away peacefully on the evening of May 20th, 2011. George is survived by his loving wife, Edna of 71 years, his 3 remaining children, Bob (Anita), Gerry (Valerie) and Judy (Brian). 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his Father and Mother, (Joseph and Christina Killen), his six siblings, and their spouses; his eldest daughter Carolyn and husband Kurt Godfredsen, and eldest granddaughter Lori DePourq.

George served in the Canadian Navy stationed in Halifax, NS. For a short while, George was employed by the Canadian National Railway as a policeman. In April of 1950, George joined the St. Vital Fire Department. In 1974, St. Vital Fire Department amalgamated with the Winnipeg Fire Department. George retired as a Captain in December of 1981.
