GEORGE FOWLES

March 5, 2010

FOWLES, GEORGE B.

George died suddenly on March 5 at the age of 79. Although he had been ill for many months, George remained stoic and independent. He carried on as usual until the day of his death. George was born and raised in Kamloops, BC. Following high school, he moved to Victoria where he apprenticed in plumbing and heating. He worked in mechanical insulation and established his own business in this field. His mark remains on many local buildings as well as several up-island. George is predeceased by his wife Shirley, daughter Barbara, sister Doris, and brother Jack. He is remembered by his son Doug (Maureen), sister Ethel, brother Len (Judy), “surrogate daughter” Sandra (Scott, Megan, Sean), numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and grand-dogs Charlotte and Madeline. We all wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to George’s friends and neighbours, John and Colleen, who supported him through good times and bad and were always there when he needed them. Truly, the kindest friends one could ever wish for. Many thanks as well to North Saanich First Responders for whose compassion and skills we are most grateful.
