June 13, 1928 – June 7, 2017

Stan passed away peacefully in Royal Jubilee Hospital surrounded by family, and is together again with his parents, Reg and Hilda, and his brother Bill. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley, their 5 children and spouses, 28 grandchildren and great grandkids, and his brother Bob. Stan was born and raised in Vancouver. He and Shirley moved to Vernon in 1952 where Stan started his 30 year teaching career. Returning to the coast in 1971, he and Shirley set down roots in Sidney. In addition to teaching Stan devoted many years to community service. He served on the Sidney Town Council for 8 years (4 terms) and was a dedicated member of the Memorial Park Society (Sancha/Mary Winspear Centre) for 23 years. Stan was an excellent shop teacher and even after retirement he spent hours in his workshop creating lasting memories for those he loved. He and Shirley travelled across Canada, and cruised and toured many parts of the world. They also loved camping and spending time on Galiano Island. Dad will be remembered for his sharp wit, love of music and mastery of English grammar. A Celebration of Life for Stan will be held at the Charlie White Theatre in the Mary Winspear Centre on July 15th from 2:00-4:00 p.m
