In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Orr (Dot) announces her passing. Dorothy was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Urtie and Martha Gibson. As a young woman, she came to B.C. & was married in Victoria to her late husband Brian in 1955.

Dot spent most of her working years as a legal secretary, and a few years in the office at the Canada Post sorting facility. Dot and Brian shared a sense of adventure, travelling to Europe soon after marrying and touring by motorcycle for 3 months. The couple loved the outdoors, boating, hiking, and camping with their family and numerous friends. In 1970 they moved to North Saanich with their young family.

Over the years they enjoyed several trips to various parts of the world. They later took up R.V. travel, and once retired, spent many winters in Arizona & California. Dot was fun-loving & had a wonderful sense of humour. She and Brian were both young at heart and had an active social life. They were happily married for 69 years. Dot enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted mom, grandma (Ammee), and great-grandma.

She moved to Steeples Assisted Living, Chemainus in March of 2024. In her short time there, she befriended many wonderful staff members and fellow residents. It gives her family great comfort to know she was well loved and cared for during that time.

Predeceased by her son Darrel (2015) and husband Brian (2023), Dot will be lovingly remembered by her sister Marion, surviving children; Debbie (Kim) & Graham, grandchildren; Kelsey (Mike), Kara (Adam), Nathan, Carolyn, and Andrew (Kate), great-grandchildren; Ryler, Brynlee, Bria, and Sage, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a celebration of life for Dorothy on April 5, 2025, from 2-4 PM at the Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive, Sidney, B.C.
