Alice Ethel Hall (nee Hampel)

August 10, 1924 - October 27, 2022
Alice passed on peacefully on October 27, 2022 in long term care at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, where she had been a resident since January of this year.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 78 years, Stan.
Together they had 7 children, Ken (Sheila), Susan (Joe), Elizabeth (Doug), Linda (Mark), Rick (Issaree), Jeff (deceased) (Laurie), and Lisa. Also survived by 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Alice was predeceased by 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, and Jordan.
Her life journey began in Plattsburgh, New York on August 10, 1924. She was born to parents from a German/French background. There, Alice attended St Peters Academy and educated by the Grey Nuns of the Cross.
Alice met Stan Hall in Plattsburgh, where they married on August 20, 1943. Stan was stationed in St Jean, Quebec during the war. After the war they moved on to Vancouver, BC to join his parents.
Over the years they lived in several BC communities, eventually settling in Sidney, BC. There they lived on a 52' Sailboat (which Stan built) along with their three youngest school age children. After selling the sailboat, by 1977 Stan and Alice built, with the help of Jeff, a beautiful waterfront home on Roberts Bay.
If looking after 7 children wasn't enough, Alice spent much of her time volunteering in the community, being honored for her 30 years of dedication. Throughout her life she was a devout Roman Catholic and went on to become a part of the Visiting Ministry within St Elizabeth's parish.
When Alice was in her sixties she taught herself Bridge which she played for many years with the Ladies Neighbourhood group, her friends in the community. When asked for advice, many times you would hear Alice say "Everything in moderation" and "never be surprised by surprises".
Alice's favourite holiday was to spend some winter time in Maui, particularly with family and or friends whenever they could join her and Stan there.
Alice was very grateful for the support and care provided by daughter Lisa, to her and Stan during their later years.
The family acknowledge and thank Alice and Stan's neighbours for their support and kindness over the years.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 17, 2022 at St Elizabeth's Church, 10030 Third St, Sidney, BC, to remember and celebrate both Alice and Stan Hall.
