A gas leak near Fort and Ormond streets is contained with residents returning to their homes near the affected construction site on Monday afternoon.

Minimal traffic diversions remained in place on Fort Street around 5:30 p.m. after the gas line was struck shortly before 2 p.m., initiating evacuation of homes in the area and halting traffic.

Abstract Development’s Bellewood Park construction site was closed with WorkSafe BC contacted and all safety protocols in place, according to a news release from Abstract.

No one was hurt and staff cooperated with investigators.
