Woodwynn Farms announces temporary closure

Woodwynn Farms Therapeutic Community for the Homeless in Central Saanich faces hard economic times.

The Board of Directors of the Creating Homefulness Society, which operates Woodwynn Farms Therapeutic Community for the Homeless, decided in a meeting June 23 to temporarily suspend operations.

“These are tough times for fundraising,” said Richard Leblanc, executive director. In a press release Leblanc said every effort is being made to continue to support the current participants in the program while further funding is being sought.

The society will continue to move forward with its application to the Agricultural Land Commission and rezoning with the District of Central Saanich. The release stated that Woodwynn’s volunteers, staff and directors are committed to do what it takes to ensure the project is a success. The board agreed that the community is “not shutting down” but rather regrouping both operationally and financially.
