Speeding teen tops 160 km/h

A teen had his car taken by Sidney North Saanich RCMP after being stopped for excessive speed on the highway.

On March 6 around 3:20 a.m. on Highway 17 near Amity Drive, an officer tagged a vehicle with radar traveling 160 km/h, and accelerating, in an 80 zone. The officer stopped the vehicle and noted signs of alcohol consumption in the 18-year-old driver. After a roadside investigation, the Saanichton teen’s vehicle was seized.

He faces charges of excessive speed, driving with undue care and driving contrary to restrictions by having three passengers in the vehicle.
