It's a wintery scene on Sidney Street the morning of Jan. 18. Several inches of snow have blanketed the Peninsula

School's out today in the Saanich school district (SD63) and buses are not running.

Schools on the Peninsula are closed, as well as all schools in the Greater Victoria and Sooke school districts.

The University of Victoria is open, but Camosun College announced at 9:30 a.m. that it is closed today.

B.C. Transit's website has been bombarded with people attempting to access information, and often doesn't load properly. The transit service has an excellent Twitter feed updating users regularly, at @bc_transit. Most routes on the Peninsula are running, although they may be delayed due to road conditions.

Routes 59, 7, 64 are cancelled.

Route 21 can't access the Vancouver Island Tech Park or Viaduct and is turning around at Camosun College.

The weather forecast by Environment Canada is predicting the snow will continue most of the day.
