Santa sightings haven’t delayed BC Ferries Christmas Day sailings

All sailings on time, less than 70 per cent full

Even though Santa Claus and his eight reindeer were spotted zooming past the Spirit of BC last night, the ferry service is on time for travellers heading to or from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day sailings between Tsawwassen and Victoria started at 7 a.m., with vessels departing once every two hours until 9 p.m.

The 5 and 9 p.m. sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay are about 30 per cent full as of 4 p.m. and the 7 p.m. sailing is 13 per cent full.

The 5, 7 and 9 p.m. sailings from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen are 25 per cent full or less as of 4 p.m.

The 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. ferries from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay were 54 per cent 48 per cent full, respectively, on Christmas morning.

Passengers leaving Greater Victoria without reservations would have also been able to squeeze in Wednesday morning, with the 11 a.m. sailing to Tsawwassen 63 per cent full, and the 1 p.m. sailing 60 per cent full.
