Renewed push for MOU met with resistence

Memorandum of understanding between North Saanich, ALC brought up again

Sandown was back on the table Monday when McMurphy proposed council ask staff to start working on a draft memorandum of understanding that would eventually be presented to the Agricultural Land Commission.

Her motion was defeated by a 4-3 vote, with McBride, Mearns, Browne and Daly voting against it, as they did the week previous on the same topic.

The MOU would lay out the details of securing 83 acres of land at the former race track into the Agricultural Land Reserve for perpetuity.

“It seems to me it would be a lot more informative if we actually had [a document] to look at,” she told the News Review on Tuesday.
