Police are appealing to anyone who has information about a weekend fire at South Island Concrete Products in Sooke to contact the RCMP.
At about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a fire was reported at the South Island Concrete Products building at 6228 Sooke Rd.
Firefighters from Sooke, Metchosin and Otter Point extingusihed the blaze, where smoke from the blaze could be seen across Sooke.

No one was hurt during fire that destroyed the building as well as a collection of equipment that included forklifts and bobcats, but the fire raised concerns about the toxic nature of the smoke.
“There are unknown chemicals, hydraulic oil and acids and dyes for concrete forming,” said Sooke Fire Chief Kenn Mount.
Police ask anyone in the area or who took photographs or videos of the fire – particularly in its early stages – to contact the Sooke RCMP detachment at 250-642-5241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
