A road block at around 12:30 a.m. at Mount Newton X and Central Saanich roads on April 23 ended successfully for Central Saanich Police.
Officers stopped a driver and detected the odour of marijuana in the vehicle. After the driver admitted to smoking a small amount of pot and allowed a search of the vehicle, police also found a small amount of the drug in the back seat. The man driving was issued an immediate roadside prohibition.
Moments later a second officer stopped a vehicle at the same road block and detected the odour of alcohol. The man driving admitted to consuming one beer, and subsequent to a roadside screening was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition. The vehicle was towed.
